How to Keep or Delete Cookies When You Close Tabs in Chrome

Have you ever noticed that certain advertisements and banners keep following you wherever you go on the Internet? For instance, if you’ve recently searched for shoes on search engines or on a shopping website, you might notice that suddenly there are lots of advertisement for shoes everywhere on the Internet. This happens when advertising networks start tracking what users do on the web using tiny files called cookies, and use the information to deliver targeted advertisements to them. The easiest way to lose the tail is to periodically delete cookies that accumulate in your browser.

All browsers can be configured to delete cookies on exit. Once the browser is closed, all cookies are deleted so you can start the next browsing session on a clean slate. This way you can prevent websites and advertisers from tracking your movements on the Internet across different browsing session. However, the cookies are still available for tracking during the current session.
Tab Cookies is an extension for Chrome that removes cookies set by the website as soon as you close the tab, without waiting for you to exit the browser. The best part is, you can control this behavior on a per tab basis.

Cookies are an important part of the world wide web. All user authorization on websites are handled and tracked through cookies. When you log in to a website, the site sets a cookie in your browser. If you remove that cookie, the site has to reauthorize you by asking you to log in again.
With Tab Cookies, you can decide whether you want the browser to keep cookies for the current tab. The Chrome extension displays an icon inside the address bar on the right that lets you toggle the state of Tab Cookies. When you click on the icon, the cookies set by the tab are protected and not removed when the tab gets closed. This is indicated by a green tick-mark that gets overlayed above the cookie icon.
To make Chrome once again delete cookies when you close the tab, click on the icon again.
